Jackie Huynh, a Finnish student from TAI (Turun Ammatti-instituutti), a vocational institute in Turku, Finland, arrived in Vesoul on Sunday March 16th 2025. Our class welcomed him on Monday 17thand gave him a tour of our school.
He spent time with the students in class, where we hope he learned a couple of things about French gastronomy and culture.
On March 29th, me and two other students had the pleasure of showing Besançon City to Jackie. We started with showing him the town centre, the different important places : the city town hall, the Museum of Fine Arts and Archeology and the old hospital buildings.
We then went up to the Citadel by bus and started the visit: the Life of Vauban museum, the Naturalium, the Aquarium, the Noctarium, the Zoological Garden… and finally, Jackie learned about French history during the Second World War with the visit of the Museum of French Resistance and Deportation.
Later in class, Jackie told us about the difference between the Finnish and French school system, the possibility for them to choose to go both to highschool and vocational school as an option… He showed us his school and its six campuses, the school restaurant and the British style restaurant he went to for an internship.
Meeting Jackie was a great opportunity for me and my classmates to practice our English and to learn about yet another culture as we also had the opportunity with the presence of our previous Indian and Ghanaian class assistants .
